As you purchase new IT hardware the warranty is as important as the hardware itself. If the hardware has a 90-day warranty and it expires and the unit fails after the 90-day period expires you could be on the hook for the repair or even full replacement cost. We feel that all mission critical hardware (servers, switches, firewalls) and network appliances need to have in place a good warranty that will provide you the support you need in case of a failure. Most new servers will include a 3-year Next Business Day warranty that is adequate but we feel you should consider upgrading that warranty to a 24x7x4 Same Day service plan as a Next Business Day warranty could take more than one day to complete a repair. The 24x7x4 warranty does not guarantee the repair in 4 hours but it will have you back in working condition a lot quicker than a Next Business Day warranty.
 
As hardware becomes older and goes out of warranty we recommend that you consider adding what is termed a Post Warranty from the OEM makers. HP is one maker that offers the Post Warranty at a reasonable price. We have clients that have let a server warranty expire while it was still a production box and it had a failure that took it down and out of service. The parts alone were about $2000 to repair the server and then there was the labor as well plus the extended down time with no production. This server could have been placed under a Post Warranty service contract for considerably less than half the cost of the out of warranty repair expense. This would had given the customer another full year of on-site warranty and included the labor to replace the parts. If the repair does require a reconfiguration of the server this is not included in a Post Warranty. Most warranties will bring the hardware back to the original working condition of the product. All software and system configuration services are provided by Berlyn Enterprises and not the OEM manufacture responsibility. Berlyn Enterprises network services are provided as needed and are considered normal billable services as per our normal daily support services we provide.
